Figuring out your niche is an important task for new travel business owners. At The Travel Coach Network, we encourage our travel coaches to find niches that resonate with their personal passions and experiences.

We recently partook in some informal research where we gathered answers from our Travel Coach Certification Members form and comments on a Facebook post to uncover some of the most commonly mentioned travel coaching niches that people have chosen.

If you have been having trouble getting clarity on your niche, perhaps this list will give you a little inspiration. If your niche is mentioned below, read on to learn more about how you can make it your own!

The Top Five Travel Coach Niches

5. Family Travel

Coming in at number five is family travel. The most popular answers included travel with kids and multigenerational and adoptive family travel.

4. Study/Move Abroad

Travel coaches who are specializing in studying or moving abroad tend to focus on helping their clients through the emotional and mental barriers of the transition.

3. Life Coaching

Helping people use travel as a way to navigate life is a popular travel coaching specialty. Specifics include empowering people to overcome barriers, soul search, find their purpose, connect with others and heal from grief or loss.

2. Wellness

Wellness travel coaching, including sub-niches like fitness & health and retreats, is quickly increasing in popularity.

1. Female travel

Coming in at number one is female travel. Travel coaches in this niche help women from a variety of backgrounds including busy executives, divorcees and more optimize the benefits of travel, especially solo travel.

Tips for Making a Common Niche Your Own

Clarify the solution you have to the problem you are solving or the gap you are filling.

When you can articulate the problem you are solving and how you are solving it, you will find it easier to attract your ideal clients. Do some research on people who are offering similar services to you and determine how your solution will be different.

Use your skills and story to differentiate your offers.

While multiple people may gravitate towards the same niche, their reasons for choosing that niche will likely be different. Think about what it is about your story and your skillset that make your brand and offers authentically yours.

Leverage your unique approach and personality to attract your ideal clients.

Similar to the first tip, take into consideration what the process of working with you will look like. Your personality and working style will be part of your unique selling point, so use them to your advantage. Maybe you process information best through visuals and listening, in which case you may want to have a Discovery Call with prospective clients. Maybe you prefer to read information, so you decide to send prospective clients an intake form to fill out. Use your personal process to your advantage instead of trying to conform to what everyone else is doing.

Identify and get inspiration from examples of your niche in practice.

Travel coaching can seem like an abstract concept to many people, so ensure you have some examples in place of what working with you would entail. Use past client experiences to showcase this, but if you don’t have a portfolio of clients just yet, come up with examples of situations so people can be clear on what you can help them with. Client scenarios are a great way to stand out in your niche as those experiences are unique to you.

Overall, family travel, moving abroad, life coaching, wellness and female travel are all booming trends in the travel industry and there is no better time than now to be honing in on what you can offer in these spaces.
